Member list, changing roles and removing members

In the member list you search for people, change their role, assign offices or remove and block them.

Prerequisites

  • You have the right to see the member list (default: leadership only, see “Who sees the member list?”).

Who may do this?

Only the leadership (permission “Assign roles”) may change a role. Whoever has “Manage members” may remove and block. The member list is visible to the level the club chose under “Who sees the member list?”; everybody sees the number of members.

Step by step

  1. Open the list

Open the “Members” tab of the organization. The leadership team is at the top, the people below. Search via “Search name or office…”; the search covers the names and offices already loaded.

  2. Open the actions

Open the action menu of a person (“Actions for …”). Depending on your rights you see “Change role”, “Assign office”, “Ask to confirm membership” and “Remove from the organization”.

  3. Change the role

Choose “Change role”, then the new role (Member, Moderation, Administration or Leadership) and “Save role”. The role determines what the person may do in this organization. Afterwards “… is now …” appears.

  4. Assign an office

With “Assign office” you enter the person into an office with a term (see the article “Assign offices and roles”).

  5. Remove and block

Choose “Remove from the organization” and confirm “Remove and block”. The person immediately loses access to internal posts, events and the member list and cannot join again until the block is lifted. Their earlier posts remain.

You can find the feature here: /organisation/<kennung>/mitglieder

Common errors and solutions

“The member list is not public”
The list is not released for your level. The leadership sets it under “Who sees the member list?”.
“The role remained unchanged.”
The change was not saved. Check whether you are the leadership and try again.
“The list could not be loaded”
Reload the page.

Good to know

  • Rights work one level weaker downwards: whoever is “Administration” in an association has the rights of “Moderation” in its clubs.
  • The block is also a decision the person concerned is told about (Art. 17 Digital Services Act). With “Lift block” under “Requests and blocks” you take it back.
  • Associations only see members of their clubs who have confirmed their membership themselves.
