Transparency, impact, and sustainability
Trust comes from openness. Here you can see what we live on, how we handle data, and what you can measure us by.
What we live on
CLUP.life is meant to stay largely free for clubs and members. The project currently lives to a large extent on the founders’ private money, which we put into development and operation.
In addition there is revenue from premium add-on features for a cost contribution, sponsorship by third parties under our sponsorship terms, and donations.
We do not show ads and do not trade in personal data.
We will publish how revenue is distributed as soon as a financial year has been completed. Until then we name no shares, because we do not want to estimate figures.
Anonymized and aggregated analyses
We reserve the right to analyze anonymized and aggregated data, trends, and analyses and to use them commercially as well, for example as statistics and reports for associations, municipalities, sponsors, funders, and research. This helps keep CLUP.life free for people and clubs.
Fixed rules apply: we name no individuals and no individual clubs, groups smaller than 5 are not reported (k-anonymity), and recipients must not make anyone identifiable again (no re-identification). We never pass on personal data.
The aggregation itself is data processing. The legal basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object to this analysis at any time free of charge, in the privacy settings or by email; the objection takes effect for the future. Details are in the privacy policy.
Donations
If you like CLUP.life, we would appreciate a donation. It helps us develop the platform further and keep it free.
Handling of data
We encrypt personal data, set fixed deletion periods, and log access by platform administration. There is no tracking and there are no ad networks.

Estimated administrative hours saved
below 5, not disclosed
An estimate, not a measured value. The formula and assumptions are below.
Estimate
As of 11/01/2026. We count only real organizations (no demo or test data) and show totals only. We do not disclose values below 5 or totals behind which fewer than 5 organizations stand, so that nobody can draw conclusions about individual people or clubs. Large values are rounded to two significant digits.
The estimate of administrative hours saved is calculated as follows: (read receipts × 1 min + RSVPs to events × 1 min + announcements with read receipt × 5 min) ÷ 60, rounded to whole hours.
- A confirmed announcement replaces a single follow-up (“Did you read this?”) by message or phone call.
- An RSVP in the system replaces collecting responses by word of mouth or message and entering them into a list.
- One announcement to everyone at once replaces writing to people individually and maintaining distribution lists.
This is an estimate and not a measured value: the factors are deliberately cautious assumptions. We do not give a figure for “volunteer equivalents” because it cannot be derived reliably.
Sustainability
We make only statements we can substantiate. We do not claim certificates or climate neutrality.
- Hosting in Europe: CLUP.life runs at Hetzner in Falkenstein (Germany); the object storage is also in Falkenstein, the backup in Helsinki (Finland).
- On energy, Hetzner states on its sustainability page (as of October 2026): the data centers in Germany have used electricity from sustainable sources since 2008, the site in Finland has been run on renewable energy since 2018, and an EMAS certificate exists for the German sites. Hetzner does not yet call itself climate neutral. These are the provider’s statements, available here.
- Efficient technology: pages are pre-rendered on the server, and we load long lists page by page using cursor pagination instead of costly skipping.
- Location-independent work: our team works digitally and from different places.
- Digital club work can save paper and trips. That is our intention, not a measured CO₂ saving; we give no figure for it.
- Durable and portable: member lists, events, and dues can be exported as CSV or iCal so that data is not locked in.
- No advertising trackers: no third-party advertising or analytics scripts are loaded; our content security policy (CSP) enforces this as well.
