Add a calendar subscription (iCal from Google, Outlook or your municipality)
CLUP.life fetches the events of an iCal calendar automatically and shows them as read-only events of your club.
EventsBasic (free)Checked on 30.10.2026
Prerequisites
- You have the public iCal address (https:// or webcal://) of the calendar.
- You may create events (Moderation or higher).
Who may do this?
Calendar subscriptions are set up by people who may create events (Moderation and higher, also via roles). Non-public organizations are not visible to outsiders. Others see “For moderation and leadership only”.
Step by step
Open the page
Open the “Events” tab of the organization and there “Calendar subscription”.
Add the calendar
Under “Add a new calendar” enter a name (for example Municipal calendar; please no personal names) and the “Address of the iCal calendar”. The address often contains a secret token; CLUP.life stores it encrypted and never displays it again.
Choose visibility and type
Choose the “Visibility of events” (“Members only” is the default, “Public” also shows them to guests and in the city calendar) and the “Event type”. Click “Add calendar”. The calendar is fetched once right away.
Check the status
In the list you see status (Active, Paused, Fetch failed), “Last fetch” and “Next fetch” and how many events were imported. With “Update now” you fetch the events immediately.
Pause or delete
Paused subscriptions fetch nothing anymore; the existing events remain. When deleting you choose whether the events stay as ordinary events or are removed too.
You can find the feature here: /organisation/<kennung>/kalender-abo
Common errors and solutions
- “The fetch did not work.” / “Fetch failed”
- Check the address (https:// or webcal://, publicly reachable) and click “Update now”. After persistent errors the subscription is paused.
- “The calendar is being fetched right now. Please look again shortly.”
- Wait briefly. A manual update is possible at most once per minute.
- “At most … calendar subscriptions per organization are possible. Delete one to add a new one.”
- Five subscriptions per organization are allowed. Delete one you no longer need.
- An imported event cannot be edited or cancelled.
- Imported events carry the note “From calendar subscription” and are read-only. Change them in the source calendar. Accepting and declining, comments and attendance remain possible.
Good to know
- New events are created, changed ones updated, removed ones deleted. Events you created yourself stay untouched.
- Not imported are attendees, organizers, contacts, attachments and entries marked private.
- Add only calendars whose content may be shown: what people write in titles or descriptions can contain names.
