Create an association
How to create an umbrella association or a city or district association on CLUP.life and become its owner.
AdminBasic (free)Checked on 30.10.2026
Prerequisites
- A confirmed adult account.
- You are allowed to represent the association (you confirm this when creating it).
Who may do this?
Any adult with a confirmed account can create an association and becomes its owner. A sub-association under an existing association can only be created by someone who is at least “Admin” there.
Step by step
Choose the type
Open “Create association” (or “Create organization”) and pick “Association” under “What do you want to create?”. The type decides what may sit below it and cannot be changed later.
Check the parent organization
Under “Parent organization” the page says: “Optional — associations can also stand alone.” An association can only sit under another association. Choose “None — create standalone” or an association where you are at least Admin.
Enter the basic details
Fill in name, description and the other fields. You can change everything later under “Edit basic details”, except the type.
Accept the contract and terms
Accept the data processing agreement and the terms for organizations and confirm that you may represent the association. Time, version and your name are stored as proof.
Create and complete
Click “Create association”. The page then asks: “Do you want to complete the settings now?” You are the owner and see “Manage association”.
Connect clubs
Under “Manage”, in the “Subdivisions” tab, you create clubs or ask existing clubs for verification (see the related articles).
You can find the feature here: /organisation/neu?typ=ASSOCIATION
Common errors and solutions
- “Please accept the data processing agreement and confirm that you may represent the organization”
- Tick both boxes in the form. Without them the server creates nothing.
- Creating failed because the version of the contract has changed.
- Reload the page, read the current version and accept it.
- An association cannot be created under a club.
- An association only sits under another association or stands alone. Pick an association as the parent or “None”.
Good to know
- An association is free in the basic plan. Costs only arise when you verify clubs (connection fee) or use premium tools – see “Costs and invoices as an association”.
- Your association only sees what clubs share with it through verification.
