Set permissions and approvals for your child (“What my child may do”)

You decide per child what it can do on CLUP.life – every change takes effect immediately, and one button applies the recommendations.

SecurityBasic (free)Checked on 30.10.2026

Prerequisites

  • A child account for which you are a legal guardian

Who may do this?

The settings depend on your guardianship. It ends on the 16th birthday – from then on the child decides. One parent’s approval is enough.

Step by step

  1. Open the child

Open “Settings → Child accounts” and choose the child. The “What my child may do” tab shows the switches.

  2. Choose the switches

You decide, among others, “View events”, “View news”, “Allowed to search”, “Send connection requests”, “Write messages”, “Write posts and comments”, “Upload photos and files”, “Video calls”, “Edit their own profile” and “Take on memberships”.

  3. Apply the recommendation

With “Apply all recommended settings” you set the recommendation for the age: view events and news (from 13 also search and write posts and comments); connection requests, chat, uploading and own memberships you only allow when you want to.

  4. Own sign-in

Under “Sign in” you can allow “… may sign in themselves”. Without it the account is reachable only through your account; this permission alone does not create credentials – they are set up on request.

Common errors and solutions

“Permissions not available”
The permissions could not be loaded. Reload the page.
“Account not available”
There is no proven guardianship for this account, or it no longer exists.
“Changes no longer possible”
Consent was withdrawn; the account is locked and will be deleted.
My child sees an empty list with a notice.
Where something is not to be seen (events, news, chat) the interface shows an empty list with a notice instead of an error page; where something is to be done (connection request, upload), a message in plain language appears. Change the switch if you want to allow it.

Good to know

  • Without approval, child accounts have chat, connection requests, profile changes and joining clubs blocked. “Take on memberships” applies only to the child – as a parent you can still sign your child up.
  • Video calls are possible only with confirmed contacts and family, never with strangers, and are not recorded. Video calls and messages are off by default.
  • Videos, documents and voice messages are not possible for child accounts anyway.
